Report reads ...
"Major volumes of pending cases at the end of December 2002 include: 1,677,042 I-130 relative petitions; 1,047,477 I-485 permanent resident adjustments; 602,759 I-90 Green Card renewals/replacements; and 526,002 I-765 employment authorizations. "

Considering number of I-485 pending Cases - 1,047,477
From 01 Nov 2001 - To 31 Dec 2002 = 14 Months
Average # of I-485 pending cases/month = 74820 ( ~ 75000)

Considering 20 days/month on average,
Average # of I-485 pending cases/day = 3740 ( ~ 3750)

INS need to approval 3750 cases/day to clear 1 day full of cases..

I leave here for others to refine and continue the math ( like how many cases/officer/day need to approve to clear the pending cases)

Remember.. those applications are for all Service Centers (5) and local INS offices (God knows how many).

So .. 3750 cases/day of I-485 nationwide doesn't look very bad.

You forget to divid by 4 service centers

The number is for the whole INS organization, and it has four service centers, so roughly VSC workload is 3750/4, less than 1000 per day.

5 Service centers: California, Vermont, Texas, Nebraska and Missouri (mostly for family-based and other special cases).
