According to at least one immigration officer when I entered, they told me that since I had an AP, I HAD to use that until my GC had either been approved or denied, they wouldn't let me use the H1 to enter the US as that was no longer a valid status for me.
Unfortunately my local office doesn't have any appointments according to INFOPASS right now, no idea when they will have some, just says "try again later" and it's just the zip code, if I put in another zip code it's fine.
Anyone done this, basically I'm living in Texas (Austin) but currently working in San Francisco (Consulting Firm) can I get my Green Card stamp in San Francisco, or do I need to return to Texas to do it?
Anyone know or ever done it?
Great info here guys, I'm in this exact situation, I'm supposed to travel friday and have just found out my I-485 has been approved, but I don't have the notice (and the infopass system is just saying "no available appointments" for where I currently am).
I checked today and found that finally (after almost 2 years of waiting) my I-485 has been approved (boy am I happy!)
