My dad got his immigrant visa recently and it shows his given name as FNU since his passport does not have a given name explictly mentioned. But on his DS 230 we properly indicated the way we want the given and surnames separated. The question I have is, which name is used for the green card...

Hi: I am planning to apply for a PIO card for my 21 month old son and am wondering if a thumb impression is what I need for his signature on the form, or if I need to sign and indicate that I am his father. Any input will be much appreciated. Thanks much in advance!

Thanks Rahul! I am planning to get the PIO card (don't see any real benefits to the OIC) at the same time that I cancel my Indian passport...I have heard it takes 10 days for the PIO card, so maybe the whole process (cancel and get PIO card) will take that long. But it is good to know...

Does anyone know how long it takes for the Indian consulate in Chicago to cancel the Indian passport and return it...is it same day service? Also any pointers on what documentation other than the US passport copy is required, or a link to this info will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
