That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. How did you come to this conclusion? Why are once-immigrant lawyers more likely to exploit you? It's particularly shameless of you to say this on a forum paid for and maintained by an immigrant attorney!
There is no need for you two to have met each other. I would say something like this: "even though I do not know Dr.X personally, I've been aware of his groundbreaking/seminal/extraordinary/etc. contributions to the BLAH field since his groundbreaking/seminal/extraordinary/etc. paper in BLAH...
My wife and I had our passports stamped on July 28 in Newark. I received my plastic card on 9/7/04, and my wife received hers yesterday. We were told that there would be a 6-12 month wait before they sent our cards. Obviously they are working much faster than that.
Good luck.

You shouldn't have much trouble in VSC with an OR application. Unless if things don't change for better, the only problem you will have will be a long wait for your adjudication.

I went through the O-1 to OR route. O-1 is supposed to be similar to EA in terms of requirements. It's not impossible to get one. The benefit of going this route for you is that you would have done the leg-work required for an OR/EA application (you can use the same letters with slightest...
I went through one of the cases in the link honkman provided (the one at top in 2003). I was amazed at the detail and depth in the analysis of the case. I wonder if they do this for all rejected cases. It sure looks time consuming, I wonder if that explains the sometimes slow processing at SCs.
I was on O-1 when I reentered the US using AP. The new I94 had AOS as my new status, and my attorney told me that I was no longer on O-1. I was asked to renew my EAD to continue working legally.
There was no interview in our case. If it's a straightforward approval like ours, then you just show up at a local district office on a Wednesday (I don't know if they all do it on Wednesdays, Newark office does). It is fairly simple after that, you just need to bring all your EADs and APs (old...
We had our passports stamped for temporary permanent resident status today at Newark. Things sure seem to have picked up at VSC, there have been several approvals of many kinds in the past 3 months.
Good luck to you all, it's just a matter of time.

Can't you not use the letter at all in your application? I don't remember having to file a job offer letter for my I140-OR petition. The formal application was a letter signed by my supervisor. It usually is easier to convince your boss in a situation like this.
Our 485s were approved a couple of days ago. My I140 (EB1-OR) was approved a couple of months ago. We had our first FPs done June 2003. There was no second FP.
The 485 RD was in Feb 2003.

Skusa,
I believe RFEs on 485 applications are usually much easier to handle than those for EB1-I140. Since 485 petition mostly contains biographical data, it should be easy to obtain any missing documents (an unclear birth certificate, missing tax returns, etc.). A popular 485-RFE seems to be...
Approved
I just checked the online status and found out that our (my wife's and mine) 485s have been approved on the July 13.
Good luck to you all.

You will have an opportunity to describe the more esoteric terms in lay-people's language in the cover letter of your application. For the recommendation letters from stalwarts in the field, it may not be a good idea to cheapen them too much by using watered-down language.
I recently had a...
