Congratulation.
When you apply for citizen, you need to fill a bio, as you did for GC. It is the only one that may raise the concern on this issue. But I think this is not a big issue.

This is new, not only to the applicants, but also to the law practitioners(change job after GC approval). Only time will tell.
BTW, my case is a common AC21 case(change job just before GC approval).
Hi Ginnu,
Sorry for the confusion.
As to my case, it is a little bit better. Quitting the job 3 days before getting GC approval. And getting the new job on the same day of approval. New job is equivalent to the old job. In my case, I believe there is no issue in terms of AC21 for my case...
Hi NandPC,
AoS pending is a transition status. It is still a legal status which protects the I485 applicants and gives them some benefits like EAD etc.
Legal presence is different. Once you lose your H1B status, you lose the legal status of H1B immediately. But your presence is legal until...
Hi folks,
My I485 approval notice asks me to do passport stamp at San Diego. But I am going to try my chance at San Jose office. I wonder where the SJ office is for passport stamping.
I found the following address:
San Jose Office Location:
Street Address:

FP without scheduling in San Diego
Hi there,
You should be able to do FP without appointment in San Diego. Sorry I did not tell you the detail in my last reply to this post.
I and my wife got 2nd FP notice in April this year. We visited the El Cajon blvd next day. And we got denied by...
Hi folks,
Our I-485s have finally been approved on June 1st. We got the news from our lawyer, who received approval email from USCIS this morning, and also confirmed from the on-line inquiry . It must come out this morning because I did not see this update yesterday.
Here is our...
Hi,
We had the same problem before. But we got confirmed that they accepted walk-in cases on certain weekday. We did our FP on a walk-in base. Please ask someone senior inside rather than the door guard.

re: tuition of F1
At this point (F1 for lower tuition), I agree with Kashmir.
From what I know, F1 is not eligible to claim the benefits of resident in UC system. In their requirement, the applicant must be citizen, PR / AOS, OR these who are “a nonimmigrant who is not precluded from...
Hi Niladri,
I am not sure about other university policy. In California, e.g. for UC system, they will treat AOS as residents. If you are from NY (as AOS, citizen or PR) and wish to pay resident's tuition, then you will be asked if you are willing to file an application form to change your...
Hi folks,
F-1 status will not invalidate your AOS. Matter of Houssenpour in 1974 (?) has already clearly shown this point.
However, if you try to do something extra, like reinstatement/F-1 extension/ landing with F-1 visa (visa is not status), certainly it is contradicting your AOS...
some comments
BitterMan never disappoints me by explaining the terms.

For example, there are cases holding that a person who engages in unauthorized employment while the adjustment is pending -- I suppose because they did not to apply for the Employment Authorization...
Hi there,
In terms of law, AOS pending does not contradict F-1 nonimmigration intent ( to see the reason please see a previous thread)
If you pay your tuition, AOS make you pay less as a resident, and you can let shcool know to let you enjoy the benefit.
If you work for study, you can...
Hi Bitterman,
As I read your following posts, I found we are largely in agreement on the same issue: working without EAD will jeopardize I485. On my last post I am comparing apples and peaches :o) . But I believe the post is good to other readers.
For your post to me

I am sorry to...

I am sorry to point this out, but you are totally confusing different aspects of the law. You are trying to match AOS eligibility requirements with unauthorized employment definition during AOS. It's like comparing apples and peaches - you can get amusing, but absolutely meaningless...
Hi folks,
I re-examined the law and found there are some inconsistency about this. Here is the items:
245.1 eligibility:
restricted alien
… …
(10) Any alien who was ever employed in the United States without the authorization … … . For purposes of this paragraph, an alien who meets...
