My I140, I-485 are under concurrent processing and 180 days passed since then. I have an EAD too. In the event of a layoff can I : a. Accept a job with another employer in the same status? b. Start a company of my own and resume the processing under that company's name?

Thanks for the reply. A further question is : 1099s are issued by my bank(for interest income) and broker(capital gains). Would not 1099 issued for commissions be considered along similar lines?

Is it legal for one, being on H1 status, to join affiliate programs or network marketing programs and accept commission just as an individual(without owning a company or partnership)?
