    Hi Gourab: Just got an update that yes one can join Resi on J2 and later continue on H1/J1 subject to the primary J1 fulfilling teh required requirements.

    J2 is permitted to work but I dont think any employer would hire anyone as a resident on J2. Even otherwise it the J1 that is permitted to be hired as a resident and not J2.

    Saurabh: To my understanding ans to ur questions are as follows: 1. You can immediately file ur H1; 2. You can start working after filing; 3. If you renew the J1 after the waiver, I believe you will remain subject to the waiver [having not used the old one]. (I will confirm and get back)...

    7th Extn.. on I-140/485 denial I think that as long as your MTR would be pending you are fine.....
