I finally got my approval email on 4/27, 5 years 16 days after filing my I485. My case was stuck in the name check process for over 3 years. I used to be very active in this forum since 2002, but the past couple of years, I just tuned off as the frustrations were beginning to eat me. Here's a...
2 emails
Family and I each got 2 emails on 10/28. Earlier our online message used to be "We responded to your request for information in Feb 2005......", but now it has reverted to a 2003 message. E.g. for me it says "We received your RFE in Dec 2003...". For my family, it changed to the usual...
It doesn't really matter whether you use your AP or H1. Since you already have a valid H1 stamped, use that - it saves a few minutes at the POE. Take a copy of your approval notice, and a current employement letter if you are using your H1.
If you can't make it to the scheduled biometrics...
I vaguely remember that you'll need a transit visa if for Germany if you don't have the physical card. Check thier website @

Though technically your AP becomes void once your 485 is approved (since 485 is no longer pending, all associated documents become void), this should not cause a problem at your POE. The immigration officer can let you in under 'deferred inspection', and you can go to your local INS office to...
I've no clue why it's pending, and FBI keeps assuring they are working as 'expeditiously' as possible, and my local congressman says wait for the security check to be completed.
See my signature for details. My security check has been pending since Dec 2003. Incidently, my wife's check was completed in Dec 2002, and I am the primary.
If you are stuck with the FBI, and the published USCIS processing dates mean nothing to your case.
Congrats Jaysys! Another one off the line! Wish you the best :)
I've a question - does the LUD change when USCIS receives the results of the name check from the FBI?
They accept affidavits, but they have not specified that in the RFE - maybe it's better to send what they ask for.
You could try the following site (run by TTK) to help get the documents - it might come faster.

Currys, write them an inquiry about the non-receipt of your RFE. Send it by certified mail with return receipt. One never knows with USCIS, but they shouldn't get back one fine day saying they are voiding your application due to non-response to their RFE.
The way things are proceeding, I...
I found that direclty from the FBI. It was also confirmed by my congressman.
You can query the FBI by sending them an email inquiry asking if you name chek has been completed (email: FBINNCP@ic.fbi.gov ). Provide you date/country of birth, A#, and Full name.
