Takes about 4 weeks I applied for EAD extension around 6/17/02. Got the extension by 7/19/02. My old EAD expires 9/16/02. New EAD effective from 9/16/02 - so they check and give the new EAD to be effective after the old one expires even if you apply well in advance.
