    church membership and N400

Very difficult. If you are deadset on this, then you are better advised to find a lawyer and be ready to argue in a courtroom. There are no easy and acceptable outlets, since you are asking an exception to requirement, which is paramount to the security of this country. There is a good chance at...

What needs to be done after oath?

I believe, its a late reply. When I made DMV update in CA, I wasnt charged. The dmv person thought there will be an expense, when I told them the change was related to status change, she confirmed that there will not be any expense.

Anyone used USPS postal money order with N400

Money Order is fine. But, why pay the extra fees to USPS? Also, if you use personal check, you just have to check with the bank to see when the check is cased.

    name change?

I agree. This seem to be the right thing to do, since the alternative suggestions seem experimental and not-often heard of. Unless you are John Scopes or Rosa Parks, I suggest, just keep it simple. :-)

    name change?

Huracan, I have to challenge you on this one. Name change is a service provided by USCIS. I dont believe it process varies with jurisdictions. If the office is not equipped to do name change during oath, my guess is, oath will be rescheduled at a location where it will be. Same is the case, if...

Los Angeles, CA - N-400 Timeline

I have to assume its very abnormal to get approval for Same Day oath in LA. Because, there was no infrastructure or even a separate room for that. In the interview-waiting room, a lady called out the person's name (who was supposed to take oath) he went to the same window, where we dropped...

    name change?

Hi I did my name change during naturalization process. I participated in another thread a while ago, where someone had suggested name change after naturalization. I don't think the suggestion is quite accurate, under usual circumstances. Here is what I gather: Name change is a legal process...

Los Angeles, CA - N-400 Timeline

    1) Its possible in LA. When I was there, I saw one person attending the interview in the morning (not sure how early in the morning). He requested same day Oath. He was asked to return back in the afternoon. He completed his oath at around 2p (which is what I witnessed while waiting for...

    OCI - San Francisco Tracker

Passport with OCI I remember reading in CGISF website, advising against sending Passport, if you have a trip planned soon. Other than that, they actually do advise you to do so, which is what I exactly did.

    OCI - San Francisco Tracker

Another silly question about Express mail.... I paid for the express mail ($16.50). Postal Employee gave me a non-filled address-sticker, which had three carbon-copies. I wrote on the top slip. The bottom-most one was the sticky address-slip. I separated that and pasted the slip on the...

    OCI - San Francisco Tracker

I am planning to apply for OCI. Can someone explain how does the return mail works, when sending the passport? SF-CGI advises to use Self-Addressed Stamped Express Mail. Is this the Express-envelope available at USPS? How do I determine the Stamp amount?

    Name change again.

Name Change Please consider your location. If you happen to live in Los Angeles, your Oath is always a court ceremony, and same day Oath is rare and discouraged. I would assume there are other cities with this kind of arrangement. I always felt, name change is the easiest thru Naturalization...

Qn on updating Social Security Admin after naturalized citizenship

When I went to SSN to update my name change, I laid it on the counter. But the lady at the counter noticed it but ignored it, as if its not even there. Also, when I got my GC, I didnt update my SSN. Didnt know, until now, that I was required to.

Los Angeles, CA - N-400 Timeline

Thanks Jedi, I didn't know that you can use DL to Vote. I did register at the Oath Ceremony, though. Also, forgot to mention, I am yet to get back the originals of Naturalization Certificate and the Name Change Petition from State Department. It feels surreal to hold that PP. More so than the...
