@ @Astirlo, having your Wassce certificate ideally should have been enough but as you know, the consulates at the US embassy here normally asks questions all certificates thereby making it very important to submit all certificates. So in your peculiar case, I suggest you chose HIGH SCHOOL...

in Ghana there is only one birth certificate and that is what the embassy accepts. don't stress yourself

In Ghana, to be able to make it to the university, you should be able to get A1-C6 in Wassce, A-D in SSCE And A1 to D7 in Wassce for the Technical University (Polytechnic). The US embassy here in Ghana are most likely to go by this.

Ideally, it should have been as soon as possible but in this case just be sure of when your new passport will be ready so that you plan appropriately.
