    DV 2014 AOS Only

If you google "apply for change of status during grace period", for instance, you get many links to several pages maintained by universities for their international students. I suppose all F1 students are concerned about grace periods. I've also found online numerous answers from lawyers who...

    DV 2014 AOS Only

I absolutely see your point and I did check with my international adviser. :) What I said to the original poster is that theoretically, one is in status during the grace period, which is absolutely accurate. My international adviser also told me that one can actually apply for a change of status...

F1 Status ....am i eligible to do aos

I doubt KCC received your documents THE VERY SAME DAY you mailed them, unless you used express mail (overnight or 1 day delivery). Maybe the e-mail was sent to you in error. It happens. Even if it wasn't, all it says is that KCC is no longer processing your case due to the fact that you've...

    DV 2014 AOS Only

As far as I know, unless your case is delayed due to Administrative Processing, they should let you know if you have the green card at the end of the interview. :) If you meet all of the requirements, you don't need to worry. They'll let you know what documents you need to bring with you at the...

    DV 2014 AOS Only

You have a grace period of 60 days after your OPT expires. Theoretically, you can still do AOS, provided you're scheduled for an interview before the grace period ends. Since your OPT expires on July 29th, 2014, your grace period will allow you to be legally in the US until September 29, 2014...

DV2014 with High Case Number be Happy

On the notification letter from KCC, it is stated: "Your case number should be clearly written in the upper right hand corner of all documents and correspondence sent to the Kentucky Consular Center."

Was I supposed to write CN on forms?

I seriously doubt this. I think you'll be just fine.

DV-2014 Lottery High number or not? Please help.

Hehe, yeah! We posted exactly at the same time! :) In my opinion, the matter is simple. Each applicant should read and do research about the process by checking information on official websites. It's like you said: Every single piece of information one gets from other lottery participants or...

DV-2014 Lottery High number or not? Please help.

People should read the forms from KCC. In DSP-122, at #4, the primary applicant has to notify KCC if he/she wants to be interviewed in his home country or abroad (CP) or wants to adjust status in the US. If the latter, KCC asks applicant to write "BCIS". I don't think sending a form to KCC...

    Interview

As far as I know, you're notified about the interview 4-8 weeks in advance. That should be enough for you to get a passport, unless the process of passport issuance in your country is overly complicated. Hey, Alin! Te-am observat de mult pe aici. :)

    ***!DV 2014 Selectee"s Report here!***

You can't just keep the green card. If you get it, you have some responsibilities. A green card is for those who want to LIVE and WORK in the United States. It's not meant to replace tourist visas. Once you get the card, you have to enter the United States within 6 months. You can't stay outside...

    DV 2014 AOS Only

Would it be premature to call them now (sometime this week or next week)? Or should I wait for the new fiscal year to begin?

    DV 2014 AOS Only

aos13, I'm considering doing CP instead of AOS due to the fact that I'm not sure if I'll still be in the US when I'm scheduled for an interview (IF I'm ever scheduled). My OPT will expire on August 1st, 2014. If my CN becomes current that month or in September, I'm screwed. I'm thinking CP is a...

    DV 2014 AOS Only

If you do not succeed in getting the green card, your J-1 visa may be taken away (which means you might not be able to return to the US). I think many others will confirm this.

    DV 2014 AOS Only

Yes, I meant OPT extension. What do you mean by "as long as you maintain your current status?" When the OPT expires, graduates from specific fields can renew it for another 17 months. My adviser said, however, that if a GC application is pending at the time you're applying for an extension, you...

    DV 2014 AOS Only

I went to see my international adviser this morning because I was curious if she knew anything about the issue of applying for OPT and a green card at the same time (or almost simultaneously). She noted that the OPT is the practical portion of the F1 visa, which doesn't make it distinct from F1...

Where did you read that JUNE 2013 is the deadline for the initial DV2014 paperwork? Or do you mean June 2014?

    Dv 2014 european winers here

I'm from Eastern Europe too! :) My CN number is the highest in this thread (and on the forum) so far. 2014EU00050xxx Most people on my forum (in my home country) have high CNs (38xxx - 52xxx). There are a few with much lower CNs too though.

Haha! I think so too. He has only one post and then he just disappeared. So odd that someone would lie about it. Oh well, there are all sorts of people in this world....
