Its absolutely ridiculous to ask someone to drop part of their name, I'm not sure why they are doing that at ur DO, I'm from Dallas my wife has father's name as middle name and they didn't say anything , I guess you can appeal and I'm pretty positive USCIS cannot ask some to simply drop the part...

Mombasa_guy, I can second that, its long wait..still remember my first visa experience standing in line in India and there were 300 people on that day, I was the last but one to be called for interview..you can imagine the dreaded waiting for whole 7 hrs.. Enjoy your freedom and GOD Bless America.

The answer is No, it changed the status after they mailed the oath letter which was week later the interview date, so don't worry u should be receiving the oath letter soon.
