It probably depends on 1)How far away you live from the USCIS office and 2)What time you have your interview. If you live more than 4 hours away you'll probably get a same-day oath. If your interview is early in the morning and you pass and there are no issues, you may get a same-day ceremony...

A number of people reported that status, but mine didn't change (if it did, it changed back). Sounds like it was a system glitch.

Interesting. I'm applying based on 5+ years too. Nearly 10, actually, with GC, been here 12 1/2. Hoping there's something soon. Nothing yet, I was away for 10 days hoped letter would come while I was gone, but no such luck.

Do they ever do same day oath in NY? If I were in your shoes I'd simply ask about it and tell the agent that your plans depend on how they schedule you. You might have better luck speaking with somebody about it, than trying to make changes after a letter comes etc. Worst they can do is say...
