    You dont have to pay 175 if you have already cancelled indian passport

    I went to the New York Consulate today to apply for the Surrender Certificate. I was told that I have to pay "no matter what". I had gotten my passport cancelled within 90 days of acquiring US citizenship. I showed them the San Fransisco cite link.. The bottom line is... YOU HAVE TO JUST PAY...

    Thanks sam012007 :) I have applied for my OCI on 7-May-2010. Even though my Indian passport is marked cancelled, I guess I would still need to shell out $175.00 to get that certificate.

    Hi, My Indian passport was cancelled a year back when I had applied for a visa for travelling to India. Do I still need to pay $175.00 to get that certificate ? Please Advice Thanks
