Do you keep your immigrant filing documents after becoming a Citizen

Bit OT from immigration matters but regarding scanners - I did some investigation and while there are cheap scanners or multifunction units a lot of reviews about them are not good - for example some of the cheaper scanners with ability to scan multiple pages seem to have poor feed mechanisms...

Do you keep your immigrant filing documents after becoming a Citizen

Thanks guys - good points about using a feed scanner. Actually I'm now thinking of buying a decent scanner capable of scanning multiple pages and going paperless for the stuff that still comes in paper formats such as bills and other mailings. So overall I'm thinking it would be a good strategy...

Do you keep your immigrant filing documents after becoming a Citizen

Yes I guess scanning and then throwing away the originals is a good option to reduce the paper clutter. Probably have to get it scanned elsewhere as I have a flatbed photo scanner and it is going to take forever to scan it on there.

Do you keep your immigrant filing documents after becoming a Citizen

I was recently clearing up a lot of old paperwork and came across my green card filing paperwork - copies which were given to me by my lawyer during the process. Of course as I'm sure it is the case for most it is a lot of paperwork. I was wondering if there is any logic in hanging on to it...

Questions I was asked at JFK airport.

That sounds like an interesting idea and I did see those Global Entry booths. Looking at the website and reading about the process it does not seem like you are guaranteed not to get sent to a booth. The machine will print a receipt telling you whether you can exit or you need to go to a booth -...

Questions I was asked at JFK airport.

LOL Jack - you are probably correct. Otherwise I have no explanation as to why so many naturalized citizens seem to have similar expereinces when re-entering the country. Had he asked the same question the third time I would have asked to see the senior officer in charge. I certainly was not...

Questions I was asked at JFK airport.

Thought I would ad my experience at POE yesterday. This was the second time I entered as a US citizen. The first time I also got asked a couple of questions similar to the OP. On this occasion I entered from England via Chicago O’Hare en route to San Diego where I live. I went to England to...

Got asked my citizenship in the US citizens passport control line

I too am a dual citizen of the UK and the USA. I used my US passpart to travel for the first time a few days ago to Canada (Vancouver). On my return (US immigration is in the Vancouver airport) I got asked how long I had been away for and the purpose of my trip abroad. I'm not sure if this kind...

    San Diego N-400 Timeline

It says $20 on the Dept of State website which is what I paid. I tried to post the link but it seems like I need 15 posts on this forum before I can post a link. Not sure why.

    San Diego N-400 Timeline

No I did not see anyone with an attorney. Many people were there with other people like friends or family but all the people I saw went to the interview alone. It is possible to get a mean officer I suppose but you won't know that until you get there. I did not use an attorney for the...

    San Diego N-400 Timeline

Yes I believe the officer did ask for the DL and make a copy along with copies of my passport before starting the interview. I assume you do have a DL - if not I don't think it's a big deal - I don't think being able to drive is a requirement for becoming a Citizen - but if you don't have a DL...

    San Diego N-400 Timeline

Okay I guess I'm not entirely sure about this. I did not have that issue since I my changed name matched the name on the DL. One thing to bear in mind is that if you have a name change they will attach the name change form to the naturalization certificate with some sort of embossed seal to make...

    San Diego N-400 Timeline

Yes they ask you for a CA DL – they make a copy of it and send it with the application. You will also need to submit the original certificate of naturalization. It is currently taking 3 weeks from the date of submission until the PP arrives in your mailbox. This was regular processing – not...

    San Diego N-400 Timeline

Interesting to see a few posts from San Diego. I applied in Oct 2009 and had the oath Jan 2010. I looked at this site at the time and saw very little info about the process in San Diego. I'm now done and also got my passport but stop by occasionally to see what's going on (out of habit I guess)...

    October 2009 N-400 Tracker

San Diego I did not keep track of the Citizenship process while it was happeneing in any great detail and now it is complete. I recently joined this fourm (although I have been an occasional visitor throughout the H1-B and GC process) and I thought I would post my timeline for anyone in San...

Bad case of Eczema (FP problems)

I've had the same problem as you - Eczema with peeling fingertips. I've had this condition for many years and when I went for my first FP for my GC I was turned away and told to come back after having treatment and it had healed. The doctor prescribed a cream (I think it is a steroid cream...
