i dont really know much about private WAEC,but i believe you just need to submit your results slip and the embassy would make their verifications if they so wish

No you dont have to forfeit your education.What you have to do is to go for your interview when you become current by Nov or Dec,and travel during the vacations in Dec.your green card and SSN would be delivered before school re-opens.You can come back to school after you have received your GC...
