80% of the time, you should get your oath letter in 2-3 weeks.
the other 20%... might take 3-6 months, if not longer for the oath letter.
the moral of the story...only celebrate when you have the citizenship paper in hand. Though.. getting approved is a good thing.
that's call OCD. See the doctor.
Most people don't even use their passport within 3 years. 3 months is nothing. I think over 30% of US born Americans don't even have passport
Just joking...
If you're that worried. bring copies of your old green card and naturalization paper as a backup...
Still not too late.
Just file a your 2007 tax now. It's not too late and there is no penalty (if you don't owe any taxes).
Just file your 2007 tax return with zero income and maybe add few dollars for interest income. If you have interest income you have to report it.
If you live in NYS...
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Everybody makes mistakes. If everything is OK by your interview date, you don't have to disclose it. Just make sure you don't own any money to IRS before your interview.
Even the Head of IRS made mistakes and he got elected.
if you don't have time, surely the Governor or Senators have NO time. Or maybe I'm wrong and they are totally free and want to help you out.
as Jack or Bob said, follow up with them properly instead of wasting time calling immigration. It will get you no where if you just call them and...
yeah.. USCIS suck.. Sorry.. but most public services suck (DMV, State/Local government, etc.)
but complaining to consumerist.com and BBB will do nothing. Is not like there is another option to get Green Card/US Citizenship. There is one and only option. It's like.. take it or leave it.
My wife received her Oath letter on 2/5/09 and the next Oath ceremony is on 2/24/09 at Brooklyn courthouse.
Not sure if there are other Oath ceremony in NYC during Feb 2009.
My wife had the interview last week (Garden City, LI) and I went with her. The spouse can't go to the interview room. But if the IO ask where is your husband, at least you can say that he is waiting downstairs. That might win some brownie points with the IO. Anyways.. if he is free then he...

What is the general flow of USC interview at Garden City or NYC (Federal Plaza). I know it might vary depending on the IO but is there is general flow?
1) Please stand and Raise your Right hand to swear to tell the truth and ask for Passport/GC.
2) Go Over the N400 application questions (Do...
If everything goes accordingly to plan, how many times do we need to sign the N400 form at the end of the interview?
1) Do we sign only twice? Part 13, "Signature at Interview" and Part 14, "Oath of Allegiance"?
2) Is there anywhere/anytime we need to "initial" on the N400 application during...

My wife is having her US citizenship interview next month.
I lost my US nationalization document and only have copies of it. Is having a copy of the US naturalization document along with original US passport enough documents to support husband's US citizenship status?
Thanks for the help.
