Clarification on re-entry permit wrg working abroad?

Two reasons really. The first is that there is a consultation paper out at the moment indicating that this may change to only 3 months of entry being allowed. Secondly if I wanted to go for an extended period of time, say more than 6 months and less than 2 years, this maybe the only visa...

Had H1 left US.. came back on new H1 - Problems in future?

Thanks all. I think that I am a worrier by heart and to be honest, I am beginning to realise that getting the US citizenship would be something that would be beneficial for both my wife and I. I think that I'm going to have to sit tight and as soon as my 5 years are done, apply. Thanks!

Had H1 left US.. came back on new H1 - Problems in future?

Just more that when I left the US the first time on my H1, I just left. I got a new job back in the UK, so I left for that. I don't recall notifying the INS that I had left. Though the next time I came to the US.. I insisted that I should be on the visa waiver program and not the H1B visa...

Clarification on re-entry permit wrg working abroad?

It's pretty much a visa that my wife would have to apply for as she would be the spouse of a UK citizen, me. If I were to do this at some point, I agree I should try to get some visa that isn't called a settlement visa .. or else have a convincing argument to show it's not a gc abandonment...

Had H1 left US.. came back on new H1 - Problems in future?

Hello Guys, Back in 1998 I came to the US on a H1B visa and after two years I left and moved back home. Pretty soon after I left, I would imagine after two months, I came to the US for a short trip on the visa waiver program and told the POE officer that I was not using the H1B anymore and...

Clarification on re-entry permit wrg working abroad?

Thanks TripleCitizen and Jackolantern, I understand you points about calling the US home. It's actually funny that in my contacts and GPS I have my address in the US listed as 'home' and that my parents place is listed as 'Mum&Dad'. My father 50 years after leaving his birth country still...

Did anybody get approved without TB skin test?

Both my wife and I received RFE's for the TB skin test last year, even though we had the xrays done. We had the skin test and got approvals as soon as the visa was available. My friend who had used the doctor had the same thing happen. The doctor said it was something new that they...

Clarification on re-entry permit wrg working abroad?

Guys, Does taking a job abroad, even if you keep it to under two years and file a re-entry permit before you leave, mean that you have abandoned your GC? Just sometimes I get real homesick and would like to be near my aging parents for a while and not when rushing around on holiday. Any...

First time travel after receiving GC?

Thanks all. From my understanding, what I'll do is make a copy of the i94s for both myself and my wife and surrender them as normal when we leave the US and then use the GC when I come back. You know how it is the first time you do anything, you get the butterflies in your stomach! Thanks...

First time travel after receiving GC?

Hello Guys, I'm going to be travelling to Europe in December. This will be the first time I will be travelling since getting my GC. At the moment I have an I94 in my passport from my last trip and a I94 on the bottom of my H1B renewal approval notice. What do I do with those? Should I...

AR11. Can we make sure it's been filed?

Jazzyb, It definitely is a general message for everyone. It's just that they made a specific point of it, it's one of the points mentioned in the accompanying leaflet and then I just thought I don't have a confirmation that they got it or anything that I sent it, though I did. So my...

AR11. Can we make sure it's been filed?

Thanks Huracan, I think what I'll do is just send the one in the mail with my current address in both sections and just add a postit and say updating with alien number from the GC, which I didn't have before. Do you think that's okay? It seems from your comments, I might be over worrying...

AR11. Can we make sure it's been filed?

Thanks for the reply, it's really appreciated. If I do it now, it asks for the previous address and that would be abroad and that of 4 years ago and me now having the GC might look weird. Do you think it would be a good idea if I sent a letter to the AR11 address saying that I'm resending...

AR11. Can we make sure it's been filed?

Hello Everyone, I came to the US four years ago and moved directly into my apartment and have been there ever since. About three years ago I started the GC process. A year ago I also renewed my H1. I just got my GC through the post. When I moved into my apartment I sent off an AR11 but...

    My InfoPass appt today 10/11

I think that Jay used the POJ method. Just do a search on the boards for this it's mentioned almost daily. I would list it again but don't have my notebook with me.

    My InfoPass appt today 10/11

Jay, I think that most people agree that the name check is the big hurdle and then getting the priority date current and then it's luck after that. I think that you are in good shape.

485 for kid is separated with parent?

I think that there were some threads a little back on children having GC's delayed due to biometrics. Have you done a quick search of the boards?

Do i need to inform USCIS about joining the sposoring FUTURE employer ?

An ead to my understanding is an employment document. You can work for whoever you like and for however many companies you like. The 'intent' will be that you will be working for the sponsoring company after the GC is approved and by working for them now you are still showing that intent...
