Hi CVB23, You don't need EAD to re-enter the country as EAD is not a travel document. But when you use your AP to re-enter the country, you loose your H1 status therefore logically when you dont have your H1 status you can not work, therefore you need EAD to work. Thats the reason they say if...

I called USCIS yesterday again, finally got my info in their system and the IO gave my reciept numbers... :) Mailed to NSC on 06/14/2007 and reached on 06/15/2007 ND 07/15/2007 Moved to TSC. I guess now they are sending receipts for applications sent around 06/15/2007.
