In the meantime, I would like to mention that it is NOT a foreign corporation nor is it for the US government. It is a US corporation that has offered me a position overseas. As for those duration requirements (which I remember reading as well) are there any ways to get exempted from this?

ginnu, many thanks for your input. i guess that's almost all of my questions solved. the only thing is the DMV and a driver's license (CA) -- do you need an SSN or will a green card and passport do? does anyone know? i know these things are changing all of the time.
