I think OmGV is correct, at lease these were the rules when I was doing my EAD and I-485 processing. I assume that these rules haven't changed although INS (oops BCIS:)) keeps on changing them. :) Thanks

Elias, You must have got my PM. Frankly speaking you really don't need an attorney, if all the papers that are filed with your I-485 are in order. You probably will not get an RFE. And even if you get an RFE, you can immediately hire an attorney, if you are not comfortable in replying...

The form is AR-11 and you will get it on INS web-site at http://www.bcis.gov. Look under Immigration Forms, fees and fingerprints link on left. I am not sure about the 1-800 number whether it's VSC number or some other no. You don't need to send AR-11 through lawyer. Good luck.

Company to Company I don't fully agree with you almost_free, I would say it varies from Company to Company. My company asked me more than 3 months before the expiry about the EAD. Again as you say, there are ways to drag this on.. But I am sure my comp. would have asked to go on a leave...

Boston INS will renew ur EAD only if u r a resident of MA or NH. I don't know about how they would handle ur case (that of already applying to VSC) in case u fit the above criteria.
