    Travel with two passports?

Contrary to a lot of other countries, US Immigration does not check people leaving the country. When leaving the US, the only "authority" concerned with what passport one is using is the airline. They are the ones that will be fined by the destination country if they let an unauthorized person...

    Travel with two passports?

A business opportunity came up on short notice and I have to go to Brazil for a meeting. Brazil requires visas for US citizens (I became one 5 months ago). No time for me to apply for that visa. However, Brazil does not require visas of Venezuelan citizens (I am that as well). My question: Can I...

    Consequences of re-scheduling Naturalization interview

Hi all, So today we received the notice to go for the interview. It has been scheduled for exactly the same date as my wife's due date - we literally have an appointment at the hospital for the birth of our new baby that same day. One possible course of action I can think of is to...

    "Lightning fast" N400 status change?

Hi all, I had a biometrics appointment on 8/20/2013 and on 8/23/2013 the status of the application changed to "Testing and Interview Scheduling". Is this common? USCIS's description of this status seems to imply all background checks have been done - but I remember 6 years ago when I had those...

Can I apply 6 months before my 5th year?

Sounds like they are suspecting fraud. hmmm. Perhaps they're onto something? Anyway, this post is out of place in this forum. If you post your question on the H-1B forum http://www.immigrationportal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=186 you'll likely get replies.

Where to file I-90 for corrections?

Understandable. I apologize if I came off as a bit harsh. Well, If I were you, I'd send it to the address that's in the letter. Whatever you decide, keep us posted on the outcome and timeline, yes?

Where to file I-90 for corrections?

I read the instructions, and here's what I found: To find the service center or NBC mailing address, refer to the USCIS letter that came with your Form I-551 permanent resident card, also known as the "Green Card." The letter lists the address of the service center or NBC that processed your...

    Two greencards?

Indeed. The fear I have, however, is of having to deal again with the dysfunctional monster that is USCIS. Getting a replacement card sounds simple, but when you send in that form you are giving them a chance to screw you by issuing a card with errors, losing your application, etc. Couldn't...

    Two greencards?

This is from uscis.gov: Section 264 of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides that..."Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him...

Question about travel outside of US for a GC Holder

My guess is it will be pretty obvious as you get off the plane and follow everyone, you will eventually go to a booth where there is a border and customs person there. (There will be signs in Portuguese and English) Do you need a visa? Check with the Brazilian consulate nearest you.

    I131 Fees & Photos

voldemarv... thanks for the clarification. However, the form I-131 I linked to is effective April 1 of 2005 (after the date of the announcement you linked to). So, here is CIS contradicting itself by putting out that announcement but not updating the forms. Incidentally, the form I-485 for...

    help me please

Have you even tried to read the instructions on the form? It's all there and very simple. Unless you have a complicated history of overseas stays and frequent travels its very easy to figure out. And even so, you have kept accurate records of your travels and overseas stays, right?

    When to Apply for CitizenShip

Looks like on March 15th, 2007, they were processing cases from August 12, 2006. https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/officeProcesstimes.jsp?selectedOffice=81 So... looks like roughly 7 months for the average case. Of course, these processing times are only "goals" or "estimates" and you...
