Thanks for the advice everyone. I guess my concern is that they have a "reject if there is doubt" mentality than a "keep digging until they're satisfied" mentality, and it seems that fear is largely unfounded.
I'm not sure if I want to delay filing though. It's not 100% certain my current H1B...
I'm engaged to be married in a couple of months. She's a US citizen, I'm on H1B and plan to apply for a green card as soon as we are married. The unconventional aspect of our marriage is age difference: I'm in my early 30s, she's in her late 40s.

I thought universities are not subject to the H1B quota?
I didn't realize that. So even if I were to get the No Objection favorable recommendation today and get my next visa before my J1 expires, I have to leave the country and get back in?
My J1 visa expires at the end of May (plus 1 month to leave, I believe), and I'm still waiting for my 212(e) waiver. I understand if the waiver is still Pending as of end of June I'd have to go home.

Thank you both for the help.

I'm on my 3rd year as a J-1 Research Scholar. A different US university has offered me a postdoc position after my current 3 years are up, but I'm not sure what options I have in terms of visa. I am also marrying a US citizen, but I don't know whether or how I can use that to my advantage...
