Halloween party at Federal Plaza (NYC)

I applied in the last few days of June - it was a while after our Naturalization (parents) but we moved on the 1st of July and I wanted to avoid confusion, lost mail, etc. I got a receipt from the NYC USCIS office in two weeks - and that is exactly what it looked like, a grocery store receipt...

Halloween party at Federal Plaza (NYC)

What a pleasant surprise! I got the interview letter for my kids’ N-600 interview in the form of a party invite, complete with Halloween theme pictures. (It is on 10/30) They are asked to come in costume. Certainly unexpected form the USCIS but we’ll dress up for the occasion.

    need serious help!!

Interesting opinion - you judge an article based on the - alleged - intentions of the publishers and not the facts that are discussed or the opinions expressed? The article paints a pretty scary picture of the inefficiencies of our current legal system when it comes to dealing with illegal...

    need serious help!!

Yes, hit and run is a felony. So is murder OJ is still out - well he got in toruble again, but that's just in his nature. I think it is a bit doomy-gloomy to bring up deportation immediately. If you are in this country legally, you are accused of a crime, you are found guilty you get...

N-400 denial: do you acknowledge or not?

The USCIS is incompetent and slow because most if the people working there are undereducated, underpaid people who have no motivation doing a good job. They are watching the clock all day to see when they can get out. Don't forget these are the people who issued student visas for the muslim...

N-600 based on Parents Naturalization Cert.

Additional documentation The N-600 instructions ask for documents showing the parents' physical presence in the US, such as lease, mortgage, etc. Isn't that silly if you apply right after naturalization - a process mostly consisting of veryfing your physical presence in the US? Did you send...

    N-600 and document translations

We translated our marriage and birth certificates ourselves and then took them to the embassy where they signed and stamped it stating that the translations were true representations of the original text. If I were you I would never rely on the USCIS to find documents. We had a legal...

    N-600 timeline in New York?

Thank you. It seems that I can apply for them simulatneously - USCIS accepts copies of things, only for the passport application you need originals. The only reason I want to do this sooner rather than later is the fee increase. But I agree, I would not do N-600 and then the passport.

Do you mail child's greencard for passport?

The passport form says that if you claim citizenship thorugh naturalization of parent(s) you have to provide birth certificate, parents' nat. certificate and proof of permanent resident status. Does that mean actually sending green card? Thanks.

Legal name change by court order

One thing that I remembered from my interview and might be useful: I had a legal name change by a local court at a time when I was already a permanent resident. I did send documentation to USCIS and requested new a green card. I got re-fingerpinted, re-photographed and got a new green...

Case Status did not disappear after IL

I think case status disappearance perhaps means something if it happens, but means nothing if it doesn't. I got my otah letter already and the status is still the same.

Terror bust in NJ - effects?

I wonder what effects on immigration procedures and law and the issue of illegal immigration it will have. As you probably all know sex muslims were arrested for plotting to attack military bases in NJ. One naturalized citizen, two permanent residents and three illegal. One can argue that...

    How many parents?

Do you need both parents naturalized or is one enough to apply for passport for minor with a green card? Explanation: my wife had her oath, I am waiting for the oath letter. I would like to apply for passports for my kids together with hers. Thanks.

New York City - N-400 Timeline - Naturalization Experiences

My opinion is based on my personal experience alone. I think if you did not list the tickets, you won't have an issue. They have no info about this. They also won't ask you if you had a traffic ticket. They will only ask the questions on the N-400 form (have you commited a crime, etc.) If you...

Traffic tickets and naturalization (threads merged)

My wife was asked for tax returns. She did not have official transcripts only what was filed by our CPA including W-2 copies. That was accepted. They did not ask about my tax returns.

Traffic tickets and naturalization (threads merged)

Traffic ticket warning!! I had my interview today - for details see my post in the NYC thread - and I have something to share about the much discussed traffic tickets. I had two speeding tickets (2001 and 2006) both of which I pad, way less than $500 for. With the IV letter I got an...
