IC, I would call them or fax them(my prior post) to see if namecheck is the problem. Most likely it is, but i do not know why it was taking so long. FBI told my friend that if the namecheck request from INS was issued during 12/01-1/02, then there is a back log for the check on FBI side.

Tufan, I thought of you right immediately after mine approval. Fira, prasa, khan_bache, luckGC..., if you are still waiting and you've done your FP2, check with FBI to see if your name check is finished. Most likely name check is holding your case. If you are waiting for FP2, get some help...

mine, spouse, and kid's cases were all approved on July 19, 2004. On 7/13/04, FBI replied my request of 6/2/04 saying that my record check was done on 6/14/04, my spouse's was done in 11/03. (So the validity of the name check for spouse is not 3 months as claimed) My humble excitement only...

I hope lz25888 is right--NameCheck is one time deal, but what is the difference btw IBIS and Name Check, I guess IBIS and NameCheck are for the same thing, just one is from CIS side and another is from FBI side. In FBI's reply, it says record check even if i requested NameCheck.

My FP2 and RFE have been done for a long time. No activity prompted me to ask FPI by fax on Jun 3, got email reply saying my record check was completed on June 11, spouse's completed in 11/03. sam, I did wish you get yours by Dengdeng's theory. But as i said in response to Tufan, any speculation/theory with CIS is tentative. I am still waiting. But i think it will eventually come. Ironically, after FP2 and RFE, FBI is still doing my name check (they just called me 2 days ago)
