My wife applied for I-485 back in April 2006. I was a permanent resident at that time. Two months later, the Visa Bulletin retrogressed 2 and a half years and so her priority date was no longer current. When we went to the interview in Boston in July, they couldn't approve her application, told...
This is what I noticed at my interview also: the question was very specific: have you ever appeared in a court of law? They didn't ask "any tickets?" or "any fines?". A little different from what the N-400 instructions say...
Finally, interview rescheduled!
I sent a letter to VSC in July to inquire about my case. They replied saying that my case has been placed in the interview schedule queue. Today I received an interview notice for 9/19.
USCIS published a Q&A about the new forms at www.uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/questsans/AffSupp_062106QA.pdf
From this document:
"Q. If I have already submitted an old version of Form I-864, do I now need to submit a new Form I-864?
A. No. If you submitted an old version of Form...
Interview Notice !
Well, USCIS just surprised us with an interview notice, for 07/31/06. My wife had the FP appointment on 06/02. It would be a really pleasant surprise to get the green card so fast!
About 2: See http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/statements/GroupMng_012406PN.pdf for details. It seems you have to submit a written request when you file N-400.
My wife was in the same situation and she used that A# on I-485. When she got the receipt notice for I-485, she noticed that they assigned her a new A#. So I don't think it matters what you put there.
Yes, the green card will be delayed. USCIS requests a visa number shortly before the case is to be approved, which means that if you didn't have the interview you will be delayed. On the bright side, you are legal here as long as you have a pending I-485 and you will also get the EAD (even if...
Boston jumped from 10/26/05 to 1/08/06, that's two and a half months!! And when I went for the InfoPASS appointment, they explained to me how busy and overbooked they are. I have less and less faith in those dates.
New Processing Dates
The new processing dates are out, Boston says is processing N-400 filled on or before 1/8/06. Is anybody here with PD before 1/8 that doesn't have an interview date yet?
InfoPASS Appointment
I went in Boston today for an InfoPASS appointment. They said all checks are finished, the file is still at VSC. They canceled the interview because they were overbooked for that day. Both VSC and Boston are scheduling interviews and VSC is doing so without asking Boston if...

Thanks for the quick reply. Will she at least be able to get an EAD while I-485 is pending? The LUD on both I-485 and I-765 changed last time on 4/22.
Or hopefully I'll get my citizenship...
About first point: the disadvantage of sending one check/money order is that if you make an error in one of the forms and they have to send it back, they send all four forms. If you write 4 separate checks, only that form will be sent back to you. Also, personal checks have the advantage that...
Hi,
I just noticed in the Visa Bulletin from June that cut-off date for category 2A in family categories regressed from 01-Mar-2002 in May to 22-Apr-2001. That's almost one year! My wife's priority date is in February 2002 and she applied for I-485 at the beginning of April. She got a receipt...
