Hi all,
I am hoping somebody can help me out here.
I am an employee of Company A, my H1B sponsor.
I am working on a project for Company B, who is a client of A.
B offered me a full time position and willing to do a H1 transfer.
But I have signed an agreement with A before I joined the...
Hi
Please, someone answer these queries and save me tons of frustration. I would really appreciate if you gave some alternatives/suggestions too
Present situation:
I have a H1 petition(valid until Oct 2008) from Company A and a valid H1 visa stamp for the same.
I am presently outside the...
Hi members,
I am finishing my Master's in May 2005 . My I-20 is valid until May 31st 2005.
Visa expires on July 16th 2005.
For some reason, I am not eligible to apply for OPT after I finsih my Master's(I was out of status in Jan 2005 - made a reentry). So I got a PhD admission for the...
Hi vijji241
You need to pay the SEVIS fee for the same I20 that you plan to take to the consulate to get the visa. Otherwise, you could end up paying the SEVIS fee twice.
Hi verksky,
Since your 'change os status' has not been approved, and your H1 is approved, what is your status once the h1 petition is approved.
Can you stay in the US on h1 even if your change os status has been rejected?
How soon should you leave the country in order to get the h1 stamp and...
Hi faith4u,
If your reinstatement application is denied, the issue of whether your current visa is cancelled or not is unclear.
I would say - request your DSO to give you a new I-20 with 'Initial Attendance" - tell them you will make a reentry.
Then go to mexico or canada (but be prepared to...
Yes, LucyMO is right. Just leave the country - you can go to Mexico or Canada and reenter. At the border, you need to surrender your current I-94 and while reentering, get a new I-94 and have the I-20 stamped.
I did the same thing last month when I was out of status - went to Mexico (through...
Hi friends,
Yesterday, I went to Mexico/Ciudad Juarez and made a reentry with a new I-94. My school had issued me a new I-20 with a new SEVIS record number on it.
Please answer these:
1. Is my old record completely erased from the SEVIS system?
2. Does my record indicate that I was out of...
LuckyMO and cooldude4fun,
My DSO told me that at the Mexican border, they wouldn't be interested in taking your I-94. You have to explain to them your situation and hand over the I-94 - telling them that you are making a new/documented entry.
And, while returning, you need to ask for and fill...
Hi ya colldude4fun & LucyMO,
Cheers for the answers to my questions. Cooldude4fun, can you please confirm your answer - maybe with a link to an official source that says the visa is automatically cancelled
I am thinking of making a reentry from Mexico/Ciudad Juarez. If they deny me reentry...
Thanks for the advice lucyMO. I have just a few more questions to ask.
1. If my reinstatement application is rejected, is my current visa stamp considered automatically cancelled with immediate effect?
2. If my reinstatement application is rejected, can I still have the option of making a...
Thanks coolddude4fun and LucyMO for your responses.
Here's how the current situation is:
They say I am out of status right from the next day my semester ended, ie from 18 Dec 2004.
And, I even considered the option of registering full time now - but they say that is illegal - they term it as...
Hi guys,
I really appreciate your responses guys.
My International office is very rigid - the three lady DSOs are very unhelpful in my case. They don't want to listen to me. They said - "the last semester was supposed to be your final semester , that's why you were authorised for reduced...
Hi LucyMO,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I did get permission for last semester, and it was endorsed on my I-20 as 'Authorized to drop below full course load from 08/27/2004 - 12/17/2004'
I talked to all three DSOs in my International Office, and they say the same thing - that I am out of...
Hi yall
I am on F-1 visa and I was enrolled for less than full time during Fall 2004, as that was supposed to be my last semester.
But, I failed in one course and I am required to repeat it or take another one in its place this semester in order to graduate in May 2005.
Now, 2 days ago...
Hi all,
I entered the US in 2000 on a F-1 Visa. I was enrolled full-time until Sept 2002. I went back to India and returned to the same school in May 2004 on a new I-20/new admission, but continuing my previous course of study.
I will be graduating in December 2004. Am I eligible for OPT...
