When will your passport to taken?

Well, gotta mail the Natz for that again. I did my PP at the office and I am somewhat reluctant to mail my Natz. Could mail the PP instead. Less of a hassle to get that replaced than the Natz.

When will your passport to taken?

Hmm, I made a copy before hand, plus I have been pondering getting a passport card at some point. As a backup so to speak. Leaving the PP at home when travelling domestic and the card somewhere separated from the driver license.

Immigration Service fingerprints of greencard holders at airport,Greencard rights are protected

Jack, IT is my profession and there is no way for this to be THAT reliable and fast in an everyday, many thousands of times occuring event multiplied by 10 fingers per person. Forget Q from 007 movies. Ain't happening.

Should I report my part-time Travel Agency business in the Employment section of N-400?

Yup, just put it in there. I go between 1099 and W2 all the time, meaning employed and self-employed. Just the way it goes in my business and I just listed it. It's the most meaningless section of the whole form - at least in my line of business.

Immigration Service fingerprints of greencard holders at airport,Greencard rights are protected

But for what possible reason? Seems a little far fetched to assume you commited a crime, left the country and then return. I mean you should get extra jail time for stupidity, if you did that. Plus, given the number of passangers that come into the US every day, even that would be a HUGHE...

Immigration Service fingerprints of greencard holders at airport,Greencard rights are protected

There is technically absolutely NO WAY that your finger prints are matched against a database in real time. You would need to spend a long time at the counter for that to happen. Even with all the computer juice there is, this is impossible to do. They are going into a giant database for...

    Re-Entry Permit Processing Times

Hmm. I got mine (but years ago) at the time I had my interview for the GC. Was valid for a year and took 5 min as it was done by the IO. I would very strongly suggest that everyone does it at that time, no matter if you need it or not. Just to cover unforseeable circumstances. They didn't...

Overstay visa driving with expired license

The police officer will assume that she is legally in the country as DMV isn't supposed to issue a DL with an expiration date past the visa date. In California DMV is required to check the legal status when they issue a DL. Obviously that didn't happen - or the law changed and no one told me...

    New US Passports

Now the really interesting question is why you have to "hand over" (mail) your original Natz in the first place. If the passport agency isn't checking records with USCIS? I would assume they do and for that purpose all they need is the certificate number. Actually, maybe they don't...

    Taxation of USC residing abroad

Hu? If you are taxed by IRS as citizen then you can vote. But I happen to agree that the roughtly 16 years before that, I paid taxes and had no representation. But alas, as soon as you work somewhere for more than 180 days, you have to pay your taxes there.

    Taxation of USC residing abroad

As Jack mentioned, it is highly unlikely that you pay additional taxes. Reporting your income doesn't mean it will also be taxed by US standards as (hey, they do think at times) know that cost of living can be different. Also, it is a myth that in the US you pay a lot of taxes, unless your...

Filing for naturalization after almost 10 years

Kind of splitting hairs, but it asks for FULL (24 hrs) days outside of the US, thus commonly departure and arrival day wouldn't count. Now enjoy the count when you go across day time zones and such, drove me nuts. I traveled a lot, but certainly within the limitations set; still I only...

Filing for naturalization after almost 10 years

Sorry Bob, I think here you are mis-informed. The 3 year is the option soley based on the marriage based GC, 5 year is everything past that. If the IO looks at the GC and sees that you have it for 5+ years, he will change your application.

Filing for naturalization after almost 10 years

This isn't a choice. If you are GC for 5 years or more you file based on that. Plus it's easier.

    False claim to U.S citizenship

I am somehat missing the point here.... If I falsly claim to be citizen and this ought to have consequences, the first question is what possible advantage that false claim gave me. Per I-9, if I am authorized to work in the US and there is no statutory requirement for that particular job...

technically or legally, did I take an oath to abandon my allegiance to my former country?

Likely, but that would be cheating and I am sure they find that out sooner or later. Also, you can't just do that on a visit since you need to be registered there as a resident.

technically or legally, did I take an oath to abandon my allegiance to my former country?

Well, for Germany you need a permission up front, before applying for N-400. Now if you don't do that and you give the Oath, your former citizenship is gone. Whilst you may technically still have the old Passport, you won't get it renewed as you need to provide evidence of legal presence in...
