They had asked for the ID since the Names on some of his Certificates/ Diplomas (courses which had been done in the US) had only two names. Then he also does some contract work with the US Army and they needed a letter to that effect.
Its happened to a friend. They were told Visa Approved. Given the Green paper and instructions on how to pay the Immigrant fee. They had also filled the DHL collection point. This was last week. Only to find an email asking them to go back to the embassy with their ID for a re-interview.

DV 2016 winner from Kenya has been married under customary law for the last 10 years. During entry used her dad's surname as that was in her Passport. They later this year married at the Ag's. When filling DS 260 she put in her husband's surname since she had changed her names on the passport...
@KKariuki That should not be a problem since you had included them in the initial entry. Just arm yourselves with photos from the traditional ceremony and any other photos that show you were a family before entry. If you also have a joint account such documents would help.
