@SusieQQQ The montreal consulate does not really want to answer anything over the phone. So I got nowhere. I have been in constant email contact, I just get a standard reply saying that I am in AP and I have to wait (but for how long, I don't know).
So I am putting this out to anyone with...
Hi @SusieQQQ
To answer your questions:
1. We are very much legally married (formally married in Vancouver since May 2015)
2. I cannot think of any security check at all (my wife has never even had a speeding ticket in her life, and I am not much different)
The next question I would like to...
Hi Everyone
Out of interest, lets post the length of time we have in AP for.
For me: I had my interview on Dec 3 2015 (although I was only able to give all my documents on Dec 23 - so I am going to count from Dec 23).
Counting from Dec 23 to today, I have been in AP for 85 days
Looking...
Thanks @EURO2014 , I already did what you suggested about two weeks ago. And I got en email confirmation that all needed documents are in the US consulate possession, and should they anything else, they will call me. In fact, I make contact with them every two weeks starting from about a month...
Hi All
My interview was on 3 Dec 2015. I was in a weird position: I incorrectly stated I was married (the mistake was because the Canadians considered us common law at the time of entry) at the time of entering the edv. The interview went okay, with the CO telling us he needed to get...
This is good news for me. I am hoping that my case will add more weight to this theory. BTW Simon, if you want, it would be a pleasure for me to write a blog post for you detailing what happened in my interview, once it is over.
Hi @guestgulkan - nope, I want to be in the USA. For various reasons, but one reason is that I work for a fortune 500 company, and their HQ is in the USA. So there will be no incentive (besides the obvious beauty of Vancouver) that will draw me back. Besides, as @SusieQQQ has pointed out, that...
Hi Simon. Our objective is to get to the interview ASAP. The sooner I get to the interview, the sooner I will be able to tell you guys the outcome :)
@Britsimon Please can I just confirm that there not be any penalties if I submit now and and unlock when we get the new passport.
Yeah, I would like to submit now and unlock, but would that raise any eyebrows on the US side.
Thanks so much @SusieQQQ - wish we (my wife and I) could take you out for dinner somewhere in Cape Town. Maybe in the future :)
Yeah, that makes sense. But considering our low number, if we wait until the passport is renewed (and therefore submit the ds-260 in late June or early July), would that potentially make us wait longer for the interview than if we could submit now?
Thanks SusieQQQ. Let me ask you something: What is the maximum date one can submit the ds-260 form and not be penalized? Our case number is 2016EU000106XX - when would that number typically be called for the interview?
Hi Everyone
Sorry for the Shakespeare quote above (I just thought it funny).
My wife (married yesterday :) ) will have her passport renewed when she goes to Spain in June (it expires mid June). Therefore, the passport information for the ds-260 form will be invalid since she will have a new...
Thanks - I will definitely take that into account. Actually, it's my wife who is the principal applicant (I think that most important details got lost somewhere). So she will have to do the explaining (although it was me who actually entered the edv).
Thanks @Sm1smom - yeah, I have all of that. I have rental agreements where we are listed together, and mobile phone bills. I am going to present all of that information. My plan is to make it as simple for CO as possible. First, an appropriate letter written and stamped on a letterhead stating...
@Britsimon - honestly, the US government should pay you and then link to your website. If this is the first time someone is doing the edv, then knowing how "strict" the US can get with these things, and having proper instructions will help immensely. I can't imagine how many other people have...
Hi Simon. Yup, I do understand. Actually, not only am I getting a statement predating edv, I am going to make it dead simple for the CO: I am going to get a written declaration from my bank (and stamped by them) stating the start and end of the joint credit card account. Then as you said, a...
From what I understand by @Sm1smom 's answer, if you are married, then you can show the sufficient funds in just one of the accounts (either you or your partner's account). I am in a weird situation (you can see the first question I posed when I opened this thread - look for the link there) and...
Thanks @Sm1smom I was worried that I would another bother setting up a joint bank account and transferring the money to that account. BTW: I am going to bring proof of a joint credit card account to the interview, but so far, we have no need to set up a joint bank account.
Yup, looks like I am...
