    Consolidated NSC I-485 Tracker

The text does not elaborate on GC vs. USVisa background checks; however, some points were suggesting that the process should be fairly similar in both cases (extensive name search, hit-vs-ident, file shipping, manual file checks, etc). As to the processing time, it seems that USVisa is much...

I found some interesting info on how FBI processes name check requests. It's a bit outdated (2 years old) and is somewhat US-Visa-oriented, but still gives insight into what happens inside the black box: http://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress04/garrity022504.htm...

Stuck in Name Check??? Let's track it

That phone number is for Finger Print (FP) checks, which are usually not a problem. The problem is in background check (aka NC, or name check). Here is some info from an older post: -------------------------- Hi BunnyGC: I just called the FBI Name check status and they mentioned they...

Folks who are stuck in name check and thinking about WOM

I think it's a good sign. USCIS does not want to spend any more time because of FBI slowness, let FBI defend themselves. This should create more pressure on FBI to be responsible for the namecheck processing, and to fix their system.

Yes, that was my point as well. The "2 months leap" could indicate that more new cases get stuck in NC, and so there is less workload on NSC. If there is less workload for NSC, processing dates would advance fast, just as they did. I do not have any official info on FBI slowing down, though...

    Consolidated NSC I-485 Tracker

Remember that USCIS does not account for FBI-stuck cases when calculating current processing dates and backlogs, just like they do not account for retrogressed cases. So, this jump forward could mean that FBI has paused processing new requests. I hope it means they're processing older backlog...

A vague law is still __enforceable__. What it would lack is just clarity, in which case the law would be interpreted by an immigration officer, internal agency memo or a court decision. But in any case, your understanding of what makes sense will not be used in making a decision (although it may...

Try the phone service. Make sure you have a FedEx tracking info - you will need to know the date when application was received at USCIS. As far as I know, they have several tiers of support, so, keep insisting on the info, as the first tier has little more info than you can see on the Web site...

I don't have any proof that it's done by region, as well I did not hear anything contrary from any other sources. My friend was telling me that FBI name check is done by region (based on his sources) and I could understand the logic behind it. After all, we all write our names in native alphabet...

Stuck in Name Check??? Let's track it

Both my attorney and I requested a copy of the "USCIS FBI Name Check Aging Report" from USCIS Ombudsman. Both received similar responses, telling that the report is an internal document, which is not publicly available. In my request I was telling that detailed information is critical - for...

I saw multiple notes that once you start using EAD, your H1B status is gone. This is why you cannot use H1B for your original employer at the same time as using EAD for some other work. It's either all H1B or all EAD, not a mix. On the other hand, loosing H1B status adds a significant risk if...

Marusia, which part of Russia are you from? Are you in high-tech industry? My friend was telling me that different parts of Russia have different response times for FBI NC. Also, some governmental official indicated that high-tech people attract more attention from FBI, which results in slower...

High-tech is bad for FBI Another interesting ones: USCIS officials said that it often takes a long time (as much as 4 to 6 months) to clear the names of immigrant workers with high-tech backgrounds who are applying to change their status to lawful permanent resident, because, since September...

USCIS looking into FBI slowness ? Just found an interesting piece of info: 4. Why are security checks on I-485 cases taking so long and what can we do to speed up the process? Sometimes the checks take more than 2 years and sometimes the application is approved within months. What is the...

These news were published a month ago... See "12/05/2006: USCIS Proposes to Operate Centralized Background Check Systems to Reduce Backlogs Effective 01/03/2007" on http://www.immigration-law.com/Archive%20XIV.html It is not very clear if the system will help with our problem. Our problem is...

As far as I remember G325A is filed in 4 copies, one of which is likely to go to FBI, along with the country info, address, history, your name in your native alphabet, etc. A couple of weeks back I was talking to my friend who claims he has some connections with the FBI office doing the name...

All I'm saying is that it's hard to believe a court would grant WOM if you filed I-485 less than a year ago. 7 months plus 30 days is USCIS official processing time. After that you can start bugging USCIS. If that fails, you can talk to congressman's office. You may want to give them some time...

Don't forget that WOM is a court order requesting a govermental agency to perform their job. You need something else besides just the evidence that USCIS and FBI *did not* perform their job. Most likely, you will have to prove that USCIS and FBI *should have* performed their job, which means you...
