No such luck I'm afraid. We tried everything from second & third opinions, to almost flat-out bribery and even the dreaded "talk to the manager".
They didn't go too scientific on us, but the tests require cultures to be grown over 8 weeks in the lab.
It's been a tough slog through the whole...
Well it's been one hell of a ride for us but like all good roller coasters we're getting off at the same spot we got on. Unfortunately we had some "complications" with the medicals and needed further testing done that would take 8 weeks to process. This would have put us just past the Sept 30...
9. (SBU) Posts and AIT may continue to adjudicate immigrant visa 221(g) cases
and issue the associated visas, for applicants who are covered by an exception to this
P.P. as resources allow. In addition, posts and AIT may issue replacement visas for applicants
possessing a valid immigrant visa on...
Hey @SusieQQQ I think it's going to come down to the wire for us.
After the confirmation from Sydney that they will reissue the visas we have since received a new police certificate, and have our medicals booked in for next Thursday.
We've just been put in to a major lockdown here due to a spike...
Just received a further email from my visa renewal inquiry on July 2. Looks like embassies/consulates may finally be getting some instructions from DoS?
Although 10 minutes after they sent the email they tried to recall it twice, and then resent the exact same email again for some reason...
So it seems Sydney is standing by their decision to re-issue expired DV visas. Although they still refuse to actually say it in so many words.
The 'per the below' email they are referring to was our previous email, where they instructed us to send back our passports and forms with a new medical...
Unless they are leaving it at the discretion of each embassy to reissue visas? Much in the same way it is up to each reach embassy to approve the visa in the first place.
Syd is asking for a letter to be sent with the renewal request explaining why we were unable to activate the visas, and when...
At the same time it does not specifically say that they will not reissue expired visas. It's interesting as they have mentioned a yes or no answer for all other scenarios.
I'd be keen to see if any other consulates/embassies have mentioned they will reissue DV visas. Perhaps it's region based?
This is interesting as Sydney Consulate is still stating that reissuing expired DV visas is still possible. What are the odds of them saying one thing and doing another?
It could have something to do with the embassy's ability/policy with regards to processing applications remotely?
Sydney consulate has stated they can reissue visas via mail, but did not directly address the EO when asked.
Yep I'd like to delay it as much as possible, but I feel going past early August with the medical may be pushing it.
I'm assuming they will have their hands full if this ban is lifted and leaving it to the last minute may not help.
So you think Syd consulate has the correct interpretation?
Regardless I am planning on waiting until the ban has ended (if it does) before paying for medicals and visa fees again, just to be sure.
Ah perhaps I didn't pester them enough. I did reply to their instructional email, as they didn't attach the letter detailing our rights to travel. But they just replied with the file attached and no information on the details of the EO
This was my understanding based on the way the EO was worded. We had a valid Visa before the cut off date so technically we would not be affected.
Glad to here they confirmed that to someone, I couldn't them to answer my question.
I'd really hope there isn't another EO after this one. Ideally we'd like to push it until late July before getting medicals done again, just based on the hope that "regular" international travel opens back up in Dec-Jan.
We do however have the letter from the consulate outlining our exemption...
Hi all, thought I'd provide a quick update on our situation regarding the expiration of our DV visas.
We finally heard back from Sydney consulate and they have confirmed that they are able to issue new visas as a replacement for the currently expired visas in our passport :)
Interestingly enough...
