you absolutely do not need a lawyer , all you need is to fill a form / copy of passport/ copy of i94/ 2 photos / evidence of bio-metric./copy of asylum receipt if you can not provide or fill the form properly you can pay the lawyer to do it for you . and yes the EAD would take up to 3 month...

it depends on your asylum case , if your case against the government of your country or any entity associated with it , do not get the passport . generally do not go or apply for a passport from your country regardless of your case if you want to keep your permanent residency in the US

i have a question if my case is transferred to another asylum office , does the asylum office consider it as a new case . ? if yes that mean i am screwed and stuck in the middle

i applied in chicago in nov/2013 transfered to SF in sept/2014 and still waiting no interview yet

you really need to talk to an experienced lawyer, you case is complicated

no it means it printed and another update will tell you it was mailed with USCIS tracking number, it shouldnt take more than a week-10 days...

15 months here, no interview yet. based on the USCIS asylum office workload the backlog is getting larger and larger . for example the SF office is receiving about 600 cases a month and interviewing 300 ...

you will not be sent or denied because you visited that European country . but i am sure you will be asked about it .

you do not need a new social security card, since your EAD is based on a temporary status (i-797)> you only need to update the SSN card if you get a permanent status , like green card , approved asylum .....

you have to be patient , my EAD application took 87 days from the day i mailed the application to the day i received the actual card ., after you get the card you have to go the SSA office and apply for the SSN card , you will received it by mail in 7-15 days . i know its tough not being able...
