Can we get the SSN after GC stamping? What r the pros and cons?? My wife has an EAD but we havent applied for SSN - simply coz we didnt find it necessary. Any probs if we do not get a SSN? We are expecting GC approval any day now ( RD:Jul/31/2001).

sure u can! I have recently been to India - my wife had AP/EAD and myself just H-1. Our visas were valid till Sep-2002. On return, we just presented our H-1 and H-4 visas. The immigration officer didnt even ask to see her AP/EAD (I guess he *wounldnt care*/*doesnt know* that my wife has AP as...

Update my info : gc09 (just another handle of mine!) The CAt/Country/State for me are: EB2/India/NJ. BTW great job milk! The list really helps to let us know where we stand and when to expect things to happen.
