Why would you not use a lawyer? If you have issues your chances of getting screwed without a lawyer are much bigger. I used a lawyer for the whole process and had never had to deal with problems and all the nightmare stories people here talk about.Hassle free.Worth it for me.

I wouldnt worry. Print up some bank statements-it should have both your names on it-they cant tell who s doing what on the account so it doesnt matter if he s used it much. Get some letters from your doctor,building manager/landlord,neighbors, stating that they know you are genuine married...

I know somebody born/raised in canada whos mother was a us citizen but hadnt lived in the states in 40yrs.2 years ago,At the age of 26 she managed to get her GC or citizenship in a few months without setting foot in the usa!! You shouldnt have a problem.Especially with a co operative father.
