My wife and kids reached India yesterday. They were not asked for surrender certificate or even indian passport. Officer only took US passports and OCI booklets, stamped the passport and let them through. This was in Mumbai.
Thanks.

From what i can interpret from all the articles on this..........if you have an indian passport that was marked as "cancelled because passport holder has aquired US citizenship", you don't have to get the surrender certificate.
The surrender certificate is needed only if your passport was not...
has anyone done this? I have heard conflicting opinions about this. Some say you can, and some say they won't grant you a visitor visa while OCI is pending.

I had submitted an OCI app for my family (me, spouse, 2 kids). It changed to UnderProcess, but only one of my kids apps is showing photo/signature scanned. The other 3 are just in UnderProcess state for a couple of days now.
The money order has been cashed.
Has anyone else had this happen?
G
did the Photo/Signature Scanned appear next to the "UnderProcess"? I don't see a separate row for it. Also, did that show up on 3/26 as well, or later on?
Contact from Consulate?
If any required information is missing from OCI application (or they need something else), will the consulate contact using email or postal mail?
Anyone have personal experience with this?
Thanks.

Hi All,
My AD is 8/26/04. Got the I551 stamp on 9/7/04. LUD changed to 9/14/04. When can i expect to receive my plastic card in the mail?
Thanks.

I travelled to Canada and came back with the I551 stamp. No problems. Your A Number is also written above the stamp and the officer pulls that up on their computer at the immigration checkpoint. I guess that has your picture and status, etc.
So relax and don't worry. Travel freely.

Just wondering how long it has been taking to get plastic card in the mail from the time the passport has been stamped?
The guy who stamped the passport said 6-12 months. My lawyer said 1-2 months.
Goober.
If you don't have infopass, you have to wait in a long line of 'general applicants'. if you have infopass, you breeze through.
at least thats what i noticed in Boston.

My FP2 was scheduled for 7/15. I went on 7/15 (on time, not early) and got approved on 8/26. I was thinking that early FP triggers approval, but apparently, that is not the case.
Goober.
