Got it done today but at San Jose instead of Oakland.
Please be professional and polite. Do not push in case of refusal.
Simply try another day. The guard was very polite and let me in.
I went there around 2:30 pm. 20 to 30 people waiting inside. Guess that was LIGHT to the people there...
Do not know whether fax was the reason, finally got the FP notice today.

One more piece of good news will be good enough from now (*_*)
Ciba, my handle on your list is Ahoy.
Thanks,
I heard very good experiences doing FP ahead of schedule at San Jose. My questions are:
1: What is the chance doing it ahead of schedule at Oakland?
2: If chance is slim, what if I go to San Jose ASC? Are they going to honor the notice?
Any advice will be highly appreciated!

My lawyer ( a very knowledgable one) said you DO NOT have to start all over again.
As I mentioned in the title, you do NOT have to start all over again as long as there is NO decision from the INS before the 180th day comes.
You surely can use 180 rule once the 180th is here. You CAN even...
It does work! at least for my case.
Just got an e-mail from my lawyer saying they have received a fax from INS saying I might been scheduled in late Sept. -- about one week (less than two weeks) after sending the fax inquiry.

Not 100% myself. From what I learned, you can work for ANY emplyer in ANY State.
That is what I have learned and I believe that should be the spirit of the new law.
Best of luck and enjoy the freedom (even though you are not truely free yet ).
Thanks alot for the information.
I have been pretty messy with my documents since I moved to CA. An apprarent sign of getting old :-).
Good luck to every one of us with the GC process!
