harrasing some GC holders at POE

Sorry, you're insulting my intelligence or my ability to read English. You stated, not implied, in your post it's understandable to screen people because they are of Pakistani descent, as opposed to Caucasian. Then you proceeded to defend it. That's ignorant and racist. It's racist because it...

harrasing some GC holders at POE

Thanks. That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. Anecdotal evidence seems to point to the opposite, unless the officers either don't know of their powers, or overstate them in order to intimidate. I searched USCIS and Dept of State sites, and I don't get anything regarding point of entry and...

harrasing some GC holders at POE

You don't know what transpired in the instance I quoted involving my friend, you were not there, you never talked with the parties involved, so you're not in the position to comment, much less lecture me on it. If I wanted to kid around, I wouldn't come to an immigration forum to search...

harrasing some GC holders at POE

Where can I read up on this? A friend of mine (legal resident) was questioned at a port of entry and the officers were "considering whether to admit him in or not", as he said. He's of Pakistani descent, and he always gets harassed coming into the US. Now that I read a similar story here, I...

Can a legal permanent resident be refused entry into the US? What are our rights in this respect? What is the meaning of permanent residency in this case?

    Approvals in May, 07!

Notice of Action is that document they send you whenever something gets adjudicated. It says "Notice of Action" at the top. I used to get similar ones for H1 extensions, for example. It's like a written notification. I don't know what the correct lingo is. This one says that the status has been...

Yep, it looks like I really am. I received the Notice of Action paper today. It's strange. I don't feel overjoyed like I thought I would. Today doesn't seem much different than this time last week...

    Approvals in May, 07!

Yes, I also received two emails to that effect yesterday. I'm cautiously optimistic, because there hasn't been any approval for my I-485. My date has been current since end of last year. AOS was filed end of December 06.

I-485 Processing Date in California - rolled back one year?

I sure hope this is a typo myself. None of the other processing centers showed such a sudden difference lately.

    San Francisco Regional DOL Tracker

Labor approved My lawyer emailed me yesterday that they received the approval notice for my labor application. I don't know if this notice came from Dallas or from SF DOL. My original case # was 09571xxx. They never told me of receiving any 45 day letter. Here is my case PD: 07/2002...

    acquisitions and work experience

Hello Gurus! I've already done a search for this on this forum, but it didn't turn up any threads about this topic. So here it goes... If I work for company A for X years, and then company A gets acquired by company B, and at this point we decide to start the GC process for me, can my...

Can a foreigner marry a citizen of canada in the usa?

You can get married to anyone you want in the US. You just need to have some sort of id and be able to pay the license fee. My wife and I are both non-residents here, and we are in fact citizens of different countries, and we got married here. The US marriage certificate was recognized in our...
