We have finally completed the journey of Green card. We received our Plastic Cards on Nov 26th. Took less than one month after approval (Not bad).
Thanks to everyone in this forum for sharing valuable information. I wish everyone here a speedy approval.
1. My personal opinion is that you don't need to inform INS. Only if they issue a RFE for EVL you'll have to inform them.
2. I don't think the designation or title matters. Make sure the job description is close enough for them to believe that you are still in the same field. e.g. If your LC...
Congrats...
I think you have to go the local office to give your index finger print. If I am not mistaken that is what initiates the process for a plastic card. Folks whose cases are interviewed usually do it at the interview time otherwise you have to go there with the approval notice. I may...
We recieved three letters(one for each one of us) from INS. The letters are form I-797 Notice type: Welcome Notice. The letter goes something like this:
WELCOME TO UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
It's with great please that we welcome you to US permanent resident status.
Then the letter...
Send her a notarized affidavit of support (I think form I-130) and ask her to carry that to the consulate. If possible mention your total household income on the form to make a stronger case. Also, send her a letter addressed to the Visa officer requesting to grant her a visa to travel to US...
Blessu,
Don't loose heart. In a way transfer could be a blessing if you live in a smaller city. You now know for certain that they have completed the Preliminary processing of your case. St. Louis should not be much different that Kansas City(where my case was transfered). My total time from...
Well, I didn't want to question her. However, I asked her that besides the medical forms, how does it look? and to that she replied that we were technically approved pending my son's medical form. She also mentioned that she would have to take one more look at my job description and see if it...
The approval notice I recieved mentions that they have ordered the cards and I will recieve those in 8-12 months. The letter mentions that if you need to travel outside then I should go for stamping. It does not mention anything about the photographs.
BaSh:
They took out index FP and signature at the interview time itself and they already had our original pitures that were submitted with the application.
srbose:
I had filed in TSC, but they transfered my case to Kansas City local office earlier this year for an interview. So, I finallly...
I am not very sure of that. But I had included a letter from my employer explaining the situation that it was not my fault and how we corrected it legally. But they did not ask anything about it in the interview. So, I am not sure if they overlooked it or if they care for the status since last...
:) I am glad to share the news that we recieved our approval notices in mail on 11/13/04 (Approval Date is Nov 01). Ironically our Notice dates were 11/13/02, so it took exactly 2 years.
We were interviewed on Oct 28th, but could not get a decision on the same day since my son's medical form...

I think as long INS does not think that you are using a fraudulent address, you should be OK.
BTW, why are you doing this? It's none of my business, but just asking out of curiousity. You don't have to answer if you are not comfortable.
Does anyone know if the district office updates the online status once they approve the case after an interview? This is in cases where they do not approve the case during the interview itself.
