my application for a visitor's visa to the US was denied twice over the past week. i last visited there about 8 years ago and had never applied for a visa till last week. i was hoping to attend my niece's wedding. during my visit, i had a child and overstayed by 6 weeks. i didnt think the extra time i stayed was illegal cos at the port of entry, i was granted a stay of up to 6 months - although, i applied to stay for 6 weeks. following the birth of my son, i was advised to stay long enough to enable the baby take some of his immunizations. my question is did i break any law? why am i being denied re-entry? my son lives with me outside the US and he was not due to travel with me? what can i do to qualify for a visa? i am married with 4 kids and have a good job in my home country. surprisingly, i was told by the consular that i 'may not be given a visa for a very long time'. looking forward to your responses.
