I had an H1-B, but resigned from my job last month. Am applying for H4 now. I came to know yesterday that my employer had filed for my H1 cancellation a month ago. So that means I have been out-of-status for a month. Will UCIS accept my H4 application? What do I do? Please help.

I am on H1-B visa sponsored by my current employer. I am on maternity leave currently and have gone to India to visit my family for a month. My employer might go out of bussiness shortly (maybe before I return back to US). By the time I return from India, if my employer goes out of business...
