Thanks! The rate they do things in politics maybe we will get a passport that is valid for 10 yrs in 2020 ;). Would be awesome tho. Or allow for renewing it by mail like many other countries do. It costs me a day or two and several hundred bucks every time.

Thank you very much for your swift answer. I do have an OK issued drivers license, either way I will not let my passport expire. It is just such a hassle to renew it, have to travel to Dutch embassy in Houston. And passport is only valid for 5 years, so would like to wait as long as I can...
