My wife had similar problems, so she just showed up before the scheduled date and got FP done. Go there with a credible excuse and if possible supporting documentation. Also go on a Thursday etc. when the workload for them is smallest, so they would not turn you away.

The best way to get the appointment is to keep refreshing the web page every 5 minutes. Believe me it works.
