I consulted a lawyer and he suggested that I wait for 6 months after my I-140 has been approved. He is taking this approach because the guidelines issued by USCIS are still not very clear. Also, is there any possibility that my current employer can revoke my approved I-140?

My I-485 has been pending for over 9 months now. My I-140 was recently approved. Can I switch employers under the portability provisions? Are there any risks involved? Someone told me that I should wait for six months after I-140 approval. Is this true?
