Thank you all for replying to my post. I didn't get SSN as soon as my kid got the green card only now i realised that we need SSN to apply for the passport , i will take the SSN and then apply. After getting passport i need to do the name change through the court and get again the passport...

i am planning to apply for US passport for my kid ,is it must to have social security number to apply for the passport[has A#]since i was using IRS # for the taxes, i am planning to get ssn soon i hope it will take 2-3 wks to get the card,any info regarding this is helpful. Thanks
