Thank you NKMOct23, so a 10 year visa is not that great a deal if it is up to the whim of the official to grant how long one can stay. I really appreciate the response and will pass it on.:)

My friend has just received a 10 year tourist visa and wonders if she can stay for the full 10 years? She has a family in Italy and of course wants to travel back and forth to visit her children. Can she come and go as she pleases?? Thanks for the info
