Fingerprinting done on Feb 28, 2003.

Anyone with similar dates made any progress ?
I have just received Notice of Fingerprinting (Houston) scheduled for 28th Feb 03. Since there are 3 weeks left from now, can I go there much earlier for fingerprinting ? Questions are :
a) Does INS entertain this ?
b) Does this gain me any time in the overall process ?
Thanks.
A couple of my friends (in Houston, TX) got their N-400 completed recently. As per them, they filed in March/April 2002 and took their oath in September/October 2002.
