F1 visa outside home country?

Hi, I'm an Indian national holding Indian passort and currently working in UK. I got admission into GaTech for Fall'09. Can I apply for my F1 visa in UK? Are there any pitfalls with that? Is there anyone here who has already done that? Thanks in advance..
