I was married eight yrs ago and about 2 to 3 yrs in to my marriage I found out that my wife was illegally residing in the US. In the meantime we had a son. Over the past 5 to 6 yrs the marriage has deteriorated and now we have been separated.
Two months ago, in one of our conversation she threatened that " the way I came in, the same way I will leave this country with my son without a trace". I am very worried that she can take my son away from me and I will have no chances of finding him again. I did address this concern with my custody/divorce lawyer, but feel that she is very reluctant to address the immigration issues. In the meantime I was told that she has submitted a SSN and a passport to her lawyer. As far as I know she has not been able to change her immigration status. At this time I am having a great difficulty in verifying the authenticity of her documents. Who should I contact to verify her current immigration status in US?
